Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs)

ISVAs can offer practical and emotional support for individuals who have experienced rape or sexual assault.  They act as a link, liaising with other agencies including health such as GUM or sexual health, specialist services such as counselling or housing and criminal justice agencies such as police, court or crown prosecution service.  We recognise that the process of reporting to the police and going through the criminal justice system may seem overwhelming.  ISVAs, as the full name Independent Sexual Violence Advisor, suggests are independent from the criminal justice process and can provide vital support to you throughout this process.

This can include supporting you when giving your statement to the police and attending other key appointments with you.  They will also liaise with the police on your behalf, ensure that you are kept up to date with the progress of your case and that your voice is heard by the other agencies involved.  By liaising with agencies other than criminal justice services the ISVA can support you to access vital specialist services.

There are several services in the West Midlands region that have ISVA's that can provide support to clients, please click on the pictures below to be linked to the websites of the organisations -
