Counselling & Support

Although your experience of rape or sexual assault may be categorised as in the ‘past’ in relation to time we understand that it may still feel very present within your life.  You may be experiencing feelings that you have never felt before, or be struggling to make sense of these feelings and what has happened.  Counselling can be a way for you to explore this and find effective ways of coping.

As well as one to one counselling some agencies provide other services such as social groups for survivors. These groups provide support in a different way, with people meeting informally in a social environment for different activities.

Specialist counsellors do not work out of Horizon however we work closely with specialist counselling agencies across Birmingham, Solihull, Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Coventry, who employ counsellors with the right skills and experience to work with clients who have experienced sexual assault.  Counselling offers a confidential, safe environment where no judgements will be made.
